Meon Valley MP Flick Drummond has visited Hart Plain Infant School in Waterlooville to meet headteacher Ruth Kenny and hear about how pupils are doing at the beginning of the new school year.
The school in Hart Plain Avenue is rated “good” by Ofsted, teaches 150 children in Year R, 1, and 2 and Flick toured the site to see how it has adapted to meet the challenge of Covid.
“The school has worked hard to ensure parents can have confidence in sending their child to school and many thanks to Ruth and her team, who have worked without a break, for all they have done to make sure these children are in their lessons,” said Flick.
“I also really enjoyed a discussion of how these young pupils learn at Hart Plain, with a blended approach in Year R where academic work is mixed with practical activities which also help children build relationships and learn the social skills as well.”
Flick added that early years education is vitally important for making sure children have a firm foundation to build on and said Hart Plain was delivering on this commitment.
